Decolonial Approaches in Partnership\/Public Relations and Fundraising (2024)<\/strong>
\nThe project includes three webinar series for activists in development policy organizations and initiatives, as well as for anyone committed to global justice. We especially invite BIPoC, activists from migrant self-help organizations, and people in the diaspora. \nThe project \u201cGlobal Memory for the Future\u201d explores global interconnections between the Global South and the Global North, both historically and in the present. Health Care for All (2023\u20132024)<\/strong>
\nIn our new project, \u201cHealth Care for All? Methods, Knowledge, and Capacity for Action on Global Inequality in Health Care: The Case of the COVID-19 Pandemic,\u201d we examine the entanglements of colonial and racist continuities in the field of medicine. Local Global History: Understanding the Past, Shaping the Future (2020-2022)
\n<\/strong>In the project, we would like to address the global interconnections of history and the present. The main measure of the project is the development of a digital map in Berlin and four other cities in cooperation with local groups. This map shows through min. 15 entries per city highlights local-global connections and thus promotes the perception of international ties through shared global history. KlimaDeSol\u2014Decolonial and Solidarity-Based Climate Action (2020\u20132022)
\n<\/strong>The German climate movement\u2014as we have known it for many years, as well as new movements like Fridays for Future\u2014have established themselves as white-German movements in which white-dominated debates and interpretations prevail, that remain \u201camong themselves,\u201d and that exclude<\/a> the struggles of BPoC, diasporic perspectives, and their representatives. However, it is not only BPoC, diaspora groups, and their realities that are excluded; rather, (once again) only part of the story is being told. \u201cClimate Decolonial and in Solidarity\u201d (KlimaDeSol) is the name of the new project by glokal e.V., which began in 2020. OPAT (2018-4\/2020)<\/strong>
\nThe \u201cOPAT \u2013 Welcome Without Paternalism\u201d project is already conducting its second training series for people with refugee backgrounds. They are being trained as facilitators for racism awareness and empowerment. The project also includes awareness-raising workshops for members of the majority society who help shape the welcoming culture, as well as empowerment workshops for people with refugee backgrounds and experiences of racism. connecting the dots ( <\/em>2018\u20132019)<\/strong>
\nThe historical-postcolonial exhibition project \u201cconnecting the dots\u201d explores the present and history(ies) in global and German contexts, particularly from the perspectives of resistance, racialized groups, and marginalized communities. The exhibition builds upon the \u201cVerkn\u00fcpfte Geschichten\u201d project and the resulting e-learning tool<\/a>. From a historical-postcolonial perspective, it connects the themes of colonialism, racism in Germany, humanity and nature, labor, capitalism, democracy and power, culture, migration and displacement, gender and sexuality, and development. Postcolonial Perspectives on Development Cooperation (2013\u20132017)<\/strong>
\nglokal has repeatedly carried out projects on postcolonial perspectives. These projects created opportunities for staff members of development-focused nongovernmental organizations to analyze and adapt their own work from a postcolonial perspective. Through open one-day and in-house workshops, process facilitation, and consulting, opportunities for engagement were created in both the short and medium term. <\/p>\n

Among other things, these projects gave rise to the online resource platform \u201cmangoes & bullets. Resources for Thinking and Acting Critically About Racism and Power,\u201d<\/a> where we have been providing methods, background texts, films and videos, activism, and art since 2015, as well as the publication \u201cThe Fairy Tale of Equality: Power and Solidarity in North-South Partnerships\u201d<\/a> (2016).<\/p>\n

Interconnected Stories (2016\u20132017)<\/strong>
\nIn 2016 and 2017, the project focused on historical learning from a postcolonial perspective. It included the development of methods, professional development programs, the creation of an e-learning tool<\/a>, and a publication<\/a>. For the e-learning tool, more than 160 quotations from the last 500 years were researched; interpretive guides and historical contextualizations were designed and integrated into the digital interface created by glokal. The publication offers both background texts on the ten topics covered by the e-learning tool\u2014ranging from capitalism to colonialism\u2014as well as texts for practical educational work using our timeline method. <\/p>\n

The measures aimed to fill knowledge gaps regarding historical-postcolonial topics, as well as to further develop the pedagogical basis for historical-postcolonial learning. The eLearning tool ‘connecting the dots’ was awarded as an outstanding example of global learning and education for sustainable development at the education congress WeltWeitWissen 2018<\/a>. In our follow-up project ‘connecting the dots’ we build on the results of ‘Linked stories’ and develop a traveling exhibition. <\/p>\n

Decolonial Visual Worlds (2016)<\/strong>
\nThe project addressed the long-standing issue of racist depictions in development policy communications, particularly in fundraising campaigns. The project was carried out by glokal in cooperation with the \u201cInitiative Schwarze Menschen in Deutschland\u201d (ISD-Bund e.V.<\/a>). We sought to conceive and establish new visual languages as an alternative to prevailing visual practices. These were discussed and tested collaboratively during creative workshops. Several artists subsequently designed development policy posters that do not perpetuate racism. Following the workshop, these were displayed on billboards in public spaces throughout Berlin. They can also be seen in the publication \u201cDie Spitze des Eisbergs\u201d (The Tip of the Iceberg)<\/a>, which revisits the project\u2019s central issues, presents existing voices in the critical discussion surrounding development policy, and summarizes the various project components. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
