How did the world come to be the way it is today? Why is there such immense global inequality between the Global South and the Global North? Why do people leave or flee their homelands? What aspects of this are voluntary, and what are forced? What did\u2014and does\u2014people\u2019s resistance to injustice, exploitation, and racism look like, both in the past and today? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Many global and local issues that concern us today have their roots in the past. \u201cDevelopment\u201d and \u201cunderdevelopment,\u201d poverty and wealth did not arise by chance. The global system of inequality was created by people in the Global North. We want to explore the concepts, processes, and actors that have shaped our world as it is today, and identify where we can begin to change it. <\/p>\n

In our seven-part event series, we explore aspects of global and local history related to (in)justice\u2014issues that are just as central to our present as they are to shaping our future. You can find the event flyer HERE<\/a>. <\/p>\n
