Dear friends,
We mourn the loss of our wonderful friend and glokal colleague Doğan Akhanlı, who passed away yesterday after a serious illness. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and his partner, Perihan Zeran.
Doğan joined our team in 2016 and had a profound impact on our work: We have increasingly focused on the culture of remembrance, on coming to terms with the history of violence and genocide, and on the dignity of the victims and survivors—for whom Doğan fought. We will preserve his ideas as a legacy in our projects.
Doğan, we’ve learned so much from you and enjoyed your company. We can’t even imagine Glokal without you. We’re going to miss you, your warmth, your kindness, and your sense of humor very much!
Your colleagues at glokal
Adam Baher, Carolin Philipp, Dennis Kirschbaum, Knud Aschenbroich, Kristina Kontzi, Llanquiray Painemal, Lucía Muriel, and Tahir Della
