The “Global Remembrance for the Future” project (2023–2024) explores global interconnections between the Global South and the Global North, both historically and in the present. It is aimed at high school students, college students, educators, and museum staff, as well as the general public.
The goal is to promote a spirit of solidarity with people around the world through development education events that highlight centuries of global interconnectedness—both past and present—using locations in the target groups’ local communities as examples. In doing so, we draw in part on the educational materials created as part of the Local Global History project (2020–2022) and continue to develop them further.
In Measure 1, additional cities will be integrated into the Globalgeschichten digital map (www.globalerinnern.org), and additional entries will be created for the existing cities in collaboration with local stakeholders.
As part of Measure 2, workshops will be held with students, and guided city tours will be conducted for interested groups and individuals.
In Measures 3 and 4, a series of digital discussions on global history and current events will be organized, and videos based on these discussions will be created and made publicly available on the glokal YouTube channel. In Measure 5, museum workshops will be held, and in Measure 6, a public relations strategy for the project will be developed and additional educational events will be organized.
The project is funded by Engagement Global with financial support from the BMZ, as well as from the budget of the State of Berlin—State Office for Development Cooperation. In addition, the project is supported by Tahir Della, a specialist promoter for decolonization and anti-racism in development policy issues within the One World Promoters Program.
